Window ClingsIf you have gotten your window decals printed with DARE Print & Sign Co. and are now ready to install them, the good news for you is that installing a window cling all by yourself is not a tough job. We are here to help you with a complete guide on how to install window clings.

Before we start installing the clings, let us get the materials ready that you will need for the installation process.

Things You Will Need

Installing window cling is an easy job, but you will be well prepared with the following things before you start doing it to avoid any hassle during the job.

You will need:

  • Glass cleaner
  • Water spray bottle
  • Squeegee
  • Paper towels

Prepare your Window for Installation

For the installation of a window cling, the surface of your window glass should be clean. Remove any dirt or grease with glass cleaner and paper towels.

After collecting all needed materials and cleaning the surface, check the size of the window cling. If the size is larger than 12" by 12", we recommend using the wet installation method.

On the other hand, if your window cling is smaller than the size mentioned above, the dry installation method is recommended.

Dry Installation

  • Peel away the cling from the board
  • Place it on the surface of your window.
  • Once you have placed it correctly, press it all around.

The cling is now placed, removing any air bubbles by with the help of a squeegee is the last step.

What to Avoid

If your cling sticks incorrectly to the surface, do not try to slide it. Take it off, and reapply it.

Dry installation is an easier process than the wet installation because it creates less mess and takes less time and fewer steps. However, it is only effective for small clings. For larger clings, the wet installation is necessary to avoid excess air bubbles.

Wet Installation

You will need a solution of water with a couple of drops of dish soap for this type of installation.

  • Get a water spray bottle ready - add a couple of drops of dish soap to water to degrease the surface better.
  • Take off the window cling from the plastic board.
  • Place the cling on a clean and flat surface. Keep the adhesive side up.
  • Spray the solution you prepared with water and dish soap on the window. Make sure the window is completely soaked.
  • Now carefully pick up the cling and place it on the surface of the window glass.
  • Once you have fixed the window cling, use the squeegee to roll out all of the water between the cling and the glass surface. Begin from the center and move out towards the corners.
  • Remove any excess moisture with the help of paper towels.
  • Press the edges carefully to ensure perfect adherence.

Window clings are reusable. You can take them off, store them on the paper they came on, and reuse them later for any other window. If the adhesive ever gets weaker, you can dip it in warm water and then re-apply it to the surface following the same instructions.

We hope our step to step guide on how to install window clings will help you easily install your window clings perfectly without any professional help.
